The Philippine Army (PA) will further boost its mobility with the expected delivery this year of 90 Russian-made, troop-carrying trucks worth P324 million, the Department of National Defense (DND) bared Sunday, May 30.

"These trucks will surely boost the Army’s capability to transport personnel and materiel wherever they are needed, whether it be in combat or humanitarian assistance and disaster response," said DND Spokesperson Arsenio Andolong.
The PA's Truck Troop Carrier Light project was approved by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana late last year.
In December 2020, Lorenzana issued an Acquisition Decision Memorandum and Special Authority for the PA Bids and Awards Committee for the procurement of 90 units of trucks under the said project.
The project has an approved budget of P324 million and was procured through public bidding under Republic Act (RA) 9184 or the Government Procurement Reform Act.
A notice of award was issued in favor of ConEquip Philippines Inc. last February 11 after it passed the requirements under RA 9184 and its revised implementing rules and regulations (IRR).
The trucks--to be delivered by Russian manufacturer Ural--are expected to arrive within 180 calendar days or six months upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed (NTP) or opening of Letter of Credit.
