James Harden wears Filipino-inspired shoes in Game 3 of NBA Playoffs

James Harden created a buzz among Filipino NBA fans and sneakerheads with his choice of footwear during the Brooklyn Nets’ loss to the Boston Celtics in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference first round playoff series.
The Nets star sported the Filipino-inspired colorway of his Adidas Harden 5 shoes which was designed by Juanito Maiquez, an illustrator, toy designer and graffiti artist who goes by the nickname of “Quiccs.”
Maiquez posted a photo of Harden wearing the white shoes with trims of blue, red and yellow on his Instagram account, with a caption hinting of a scheduled release on Independence Day.
Photos from sneaker-related Instagram accounts show other details like Maiquez’s nickname, the country’s area code (+63) and “6.26.19” in reference to Harden’s last Manila visit almost two years ago.
It was the latest Filipino-inspired signature shoes, following the lead of several LeBron James’ “Agimat” sneakers, the Jordan 4 “Manila” and “Titan” colorways of Jordan 23 and 35.
Harden fired 41 points with seven rebounds and 10 assists but Brooklyn failed to gain a commanding 3-0 lead at Boston’s TD Garden.
The Celtics’ Jayson Tatum proved to be too good for the Nets, hitting 50 points for the fourth time this season.
