Filipino designer creates national costume of Miss Cameroon for 69th Miss Universe Competition

Another Filipino designer is set to make a splash at the 69th Miss Universe Competition after he was chosen to dress up one of its official candidates.


Kennedy Jhon T. Gasper has created the National Costume for Miss Universe Cameroon Angele Kossinda, whose country will debut in the prestigious beauty pageant.


The Central Luzon State University College of Home Science and Industry in Munoz made the announcement of Gasper's achievement on its Facebook on May 3.

"Warmest support to MR. KENNEDY JHON T. GASPER from Department of Textile and Garment Technology family.

"We are happy to announce that our 3rd year student of BSFTT-FD has given a big role as national costume designer to one of the candidates of MISS UNIVERSE 2021.

"At the age of 20, he has proven himself as an outstanding student and fashion designer. He has given extra effort in his studies whilst grabbing sidelines in making costumes, gowns, and participating contests. Truly a CLSU PRIDE!

Earlier, Gasper raised funds for the shipment of the costume to Florida in the US.

Later, it was reported that the outfit has been shipped last Friday, April 30.


Kossinda is passionate about acting, travelling, scriptwriting, and youth education. She has a masters degree in finance from Pigier Cameroun and provides free math lessons to underprivileged children in her city, Douala.

In Kossinda’s spare time, she produces and acts in a TV comedy series available on Youtube. She is also an advocate for the education of the young and disadvantaged girls in Cameroon. In her tribe, girls are subjected to forced marriages as early as 12-years-old.

She believes offering a free education will create a new generation of empowered and confident young girls with better opportunities for a future without arranged marriages.

Kossinda is amongst the very few women from her region active in her community and serves as inspiration to the girls of Cameroon to become strong, independent women.


Kossinda has traveled to 10 countries: Spain, France, Italy, Turkey, UAE, Philippines, Japan, Poland, South Africa, and Chad. She has a passion for finance and mathematics. Kossinda is a comedian on a TV series!
