BOC exceeds April collection target by P2B

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) surpassed its revenue collection goal for April 2021 by over P2 billion on the strength of its actual collection of P51.277 billion, the agency said Monday, May 3.

The bureau had set a P49.2-billion target for the month of April. The recorded collection surplus of P2.077 billion represents 4.2 percent of the amount.

According to the Customs-Financial Service, 11 of the 17 collection districts managed to go above their respective collection goals.

These are the Port of San Fernando, Port of Manila, Manila International Container Port, Port of Iloilo, Port of Tacloban, Port of Surigao, Port of Zamboanga, Port of Davao, Port of Subic, Port of Aparri, and Port of Limay.

The amassed taxes included additional revenues from the Tax Expenditure Fund (TEF) collection worth P121 million and Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG) collection worth P13.65 million for April 2021.

Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero said that since January 2021, the bureau has consistently exceeded its monthly revenue collection target.

From January to April this year, the bureau has collected a total of P200.459 billion--9.4 percent or P17.285 billion higher than the accumulated target of P183.174 billion for the period.

The collection included additional revenues from TEF collection worth P219.34 million and PCAG collection worth P300.59 million from January to April 2021.

“Notably, this year's quadrimester collection is also higher by P20.720 billion or 11.5 percent compared to the same period last year," Guerrero said.

“Indeed, the bureau continues to improve its efficient collection performance through the improvement in volume of importation while maintaining border security and enhanced trade facilitation,” the commissioner added.
