Sangley Point, Cavite sizzles with 51°C heat index

The highest heat index in the country on Saturday, May 29, was recorded in Sangley Point, Cavite at 51 degrees Celsius (°C).

Heat index is the measurement of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.

A heat index above 40℃ is considered "dangerous" due to the high likelihood of heat cramps and heat exhaustion.

Aside from Sangley Point, Cavite, the computed heat index values in 26 other areas are also within the "danger" level, based on the monitoring of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Here are the areas with above 40℃ heat index on Saturday.

Ninoy Aquino Internationa Airport, Pasay City (44℃, 2 p.m.)

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (44℃, 2 p.m.)

Clark Airport, Pampanga (43℃, 2 p.m.)

Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City (43℃, 2 p.m.)

Laoag City, Ilocos Norte (43℃, 2 p.m.)
