The North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project will make major headway with the expected arrival this December of the trains that will be used by the line, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.

“Yung mga tren na gagamitin sa proyektong ito ay darating na sa December (The trains for this project will arrive in December)," Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade announced following an inspection at the Valenzuela and Bulacan segments of the project on May 26.
The NSCR will link Clark and Calamba once it is finished.
The training simulator for the Philippine National Railways (PNR) Clark Phase 1 project is also expected to arrive between September and October 2021.
"Mayroon tayong lugar na tinatayo ng DOTr na paglalagyan ng simulator. Ito ang gagamitin para sa training ng mga taong magpapatakbo at gagabay sa proyektong ito. Handa na 'hong dumating ang mga simulator ng September o October (The DOTr is establishing a site for the simulator. This will be utilized for the training of the personnel that will man the projet. This is expected to arrive in September of October)," Tugade added.
At present, the progress rate of the rail project is at 45.82 percent. The DOTr chief said that girders will be set on piles over the next two weeks.
Conceptualized in 1993, the PNR Clark Phase 1 Project is a 38-kilometer railway that runs from the Tutuban Station in Manila through the cities of Caloocan, Valenzuela, and the municipalities of Meycuayan, Marilao, Bocaue, Balagtas, Guiguinto, and Malolos in Bulacan.
It is being funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA.
Meanwhile, the PNR Clark Phase 2 (Malolos–Clark line) is a 54-kilometer rail line that will connect Malolos, Bulacan and Clark, Pampanga. The project will also feature the country’s first-ever Airport Express, which will reduce travel time from the Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga to Makati City to about an hour.
Shelved for two decades, the PNR Clark Phase 2 Project now has a 28.79 percent overall progress rate.
