The Department of Health (DOH) did not record any serious adverse effects among the recipients of Russsian-made COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V in the Philippines.

“Ito pong mga adverse events na tinatawag, wala po tayong naitala na severe or serious or namatay dito sa Sputnik V na bakunang ito (We have not recorded any severe or serious adverse events or deaths with regards to this Sputnik V vaccine),” said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire during a public press briefing on Saturday, May 29.

Vergeire said that the country’s initial supply of 30,000 doses of Sputnik V were already administered.

“Itong naibigay sa atin noon na Sputnik V, these were 30,000 doses, 100 percent po ay naideliver na doon sa mga piling lugar dito sa NCR (National Capital Region) at lahat po ay naiadminister na for the first and second doses of these vaccines (We were given around 30,000 doses of Sputnik V before, 100 percent have already been distributed to selected areas here in NCR and all have been administered for the first and second doses),” she said.

About 50,000 more doses of Sputnik V vaccine are set to arrive in the Philippines on Sunday, May 30. It will be distributed to areas with "high burden of disease," said Vergeire.

“Kakaunti lang po kasi itong parating na Sputnik V, mga 50,000 doses lang po, so siguro mga dalawa or tatlong lugar muna ang mabibigyan ng bakunang ito (Only few Sputnik V vaccines will be delivered to us, only about 50,000 doses, so maybe it will be deployed to at least two or three first),” she said.
