Kuya Kim insists: 'Taiwan is a country'

Is Taiwan a country or mere province of China?

Well, it depends on whom you ask.

For Kim Atienza, Taiwan is definitely a country. 

He made this clear in a recent Facebook post, writing repeatedly the phrase, "Taiwan is a country."

Kuya Kim did this in reaction to wrestling star-actor John Cena apologizing on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging platform, for calling Taiwan a “country.”

The wrestling star appeared on Taiwanese television TVBS earlier this month to promote his action movie “Fast and Furious 9,” where he said it would be the first “country” to see the latest film in the franchise.

His comment prompted a backlash among Chinese.

China considers Taiwan a part of its territory.

Beijing even vowed to eventually “unify” it with the mainland despite the self-governing island being independent of China since 1949.

And why is Kim bothered about it all?

He enlightened fans via a tweet, "My wife is Taiwanese and my kids are half. They have a country and it's called Taiwan."

Sure would be nice to hear someone from government echo the same relating to the West PH Sea.
