MRT-3 gets huge delivery of spare parts

The continued maintenance of Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) trains or coaches should have no problems now following the arrival of new spare parts at the MRT-3 depot.

The Department of Transportation-MRT-3 (DOTr-MRT-3) announced Friday, May 28 that they finally got hold of a big bulk of materials for the trains such as "consumable items", and electrical and mechanical spare parts.

Consumable items include mounting sockets, diodes, screws, and bolts, which are all regularly replaced to ensure the good condition of the trains.

Other delivered spare parts include passenger light, door handle, gear box, axle, base relay, and aircon breaker.

"Ginagamit din ang mga consumables at spare parts na ito sa general overhauling ng mga bagon ng MRT-3, na sa kasalukuyan ay nakapagbigay-daan na sa deployment ng kabuuang 18 newly-overhauled na bagon sa main line (These consumables and spare parts are also used in the overhaul of MRT-3 coaches, which has so far led to the deployment of 18 newly-overhauled coaches on the railway's main line)," the MRT-3 said.

With all these items at the DOTr's disposal, the MRT-3 will "have enough equipment and spare parts for an unhampered service", the agency said.
