LPA may enter PAR by Sunday or Monday -- PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao will likely enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Sunday or Monday.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA was estimated at 2,110 kilometers east of Mindanao early Friday, May 28.

He said the weather disturbance is still too far and has no direct effect yet over the country.

In its weekly weather outlook, PAGASA said the warm easterlies will be the dominant weather system that will affect the country since the effect of the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ is expected to weaken by Saturday, May 29.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather conditions except for some isolated afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Sunday until Wednesday (May 30 to June 2), PAGASA said the LPA east of Mindanao is expected to enter the PAR, but may not directly affect any parts of the country.

However, mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather except for isolated afternoon or evening rain showers or thunderstorms.

By Thursday and Friday, (June 2 to June 4), the LPA will continue to move northeastward over the east Philippine Sea away from the country.

"Due to the movement of the said LPA, southwesterly winds are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the western section of Luzon including Metro Manila mostly in the afternoon or evening," PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience generally fair weather except for some isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
