Beware!: Public urged to report persons posing as DICT officials to seek donations

The Department of Information and Technology (DICT) has warned the public against individuals posing as officials and personnel of the agency asking donations from private companies.

In an advisory, the DICT said it has received received several reports that certain individuals representing themselves as officials and personnel of DICT have been soliciting donations from private companies.

“The same scheme was also reportedly used to impersonate officials from other government agencies,” the DICT said.

The department said the individuals used the mobile number +639632779623 for their scheme, “which is not associated with any DICT official or personnel as per official records.”

“Let it be known that these persons are neither affiliated nor authorized to represent the DICT,” the advisory read.

The DICT urged the public to be vigilant and report suspicious transactions and activities to [email protected].
