Ateneo to vaccinate employees, students

The Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) announced on Thursday, May 27, its plan to vaccinate its employees and students against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) through its university vaccination program.

In a memorandum released on Thursday, Ateneo President Roberto C. Yap, S.J said its vaccination program aims to provide added protection to the members of the community against the severe effect of COVID-19 and to help in the attainment of population protection in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces.

The university has ordered 10,000 doses of Novavax vaccines and 8,000 doses of Moderna vaccines. The vaccines are expected to be delivered in July.

However, due to the uncertainty of the supply and delivery schedule of the vaccines, interested members of the community will be inoculated with the brand on hand at the time of the administration.

"While the University will be providing for the vaccine of its employees, employees are encouraged to avail of the vaccine soonest through other channels such as the vaccination program in the local government unit given the opportunity," Ateneo said.

"By doing so, the members of the community can get protected from the severe effects of the virus and at the same time, contribute to the government's initiative to work on population protection during this pandemic," it added.

The vaccines will be administered to the members of the AdMU community who are 18 years old and above.

The university plans to inoculate its full-time and part-time employees; employees under temporary employment; independent contractors; employees of the affiliate units; students; and eligible dependents of their employees.

Its Loyola Schools Covered Courts will be the venue for vaccination of eligible vaccine recipients.
