2 workers die after explosion inside DND arsenal in Bataan

At least two people died while two others were reportedly injured after a loud explosion ripped through one of the buildings of the arsenal of the Department of National Defense (DND) in Limay, Bataan.

A police report reaching Camp Crame in Quezon City identified the victims as Ricardo Solomon, 40; and, Marvin Tatel, 38.

The injured victims, Macreldo Rodriguez ad Allan Wsico, were taken to the nearby hospital.

Investigation revealed that the Solomon and Tatel were handling the mixture of explosive chemicals in a separate room inside the DND Arsenal at around 10:30 a.m. when it suddenly exploded.

The chemicals were reportedly used in making bullet primers.

The blast instantly killed Tatel while Solomon died while being transported to the infirmary in DND Arsenal.

Rodriguez, who is the group chief, was making reports in his table while Wisco was checking hydraulics systems when the explosion occurred. They sustained minor injuries.

"Portion of Building 27 and other machineries were damaged due to the explosion," the report read.
