Student pilot took on a solo cross-country flight, but it turned out to be his last

The young pilot who died in the plane crash in Caba, La Union on Wednesday noon, May 26 was supposed to conduct a solo cross-country flight.

Information reaching the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that the ill-fated plane was a Tecnam P-2010 aircraft with registry number RP-C8230.

It was piloted by a 25-year-old student pilot from the First Aviation Academy (FAA) in Subic Bay International Airport.

According to the flight plan filed by the school, the flight originated from Iba Airport in the province of Zambales. It was en route to La Union Airport and Lingayen Airport, then back to Iba Airport.

Probers Ranier Allan Ronda and Harry Paradero from CAAP Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) have been dispatched to the scene to help determine the cause of the accident.
