Sangalang survives elimination, barges into Top 4 of 'The Apprentice'

Filipino bet Louie Sangalang has faced the toughest phase of his "The Apprentice" stint so far.

Sangalang found himself on the chopping block for the first time in the competition after his teammates pointed out that he's "playing safe" in the business challenge.

The 43-year-old Sangalang opted not to volunteer himself as project manager for the trade event and vouched for Paulina Purnomowati to take the role for the "Dream Team" instead.

Both Monica Millington and Irina Chadsey were in unison against Sangalang's decision and cited that the former mixed martial arts champion is the "weakest link" and lacks "creativity."

Sangalang has this answer for it: "If you asked me to do creatives, I could have, but it's a matter of who is doing it better than myself, right?"

But the judges, including ONE Championship CEO and founder Chatri Sityodtong, ONE Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy Niharika Singh, CCM Group director Prajna Murdaya, and Jakarta International Expo director Karuna Murdaya, detailed that Sangalang's sales pitch was "very flat, nervous, and a bit stiff."

Jessica Ramella, on the other hand, stood out the most for the clients during the expo.

Sangalang was fortunate enough as Purnomowati was the one who packed her bags out of the contest.

"You need to shine," Singh told Sangalang. "We want somebody who has a clear spike, but who also shows his ability to try out different things that they've not done in the past."

Earlier, an emotional Sangalang reflected on his personal life while the team was en route to a soccer game with the children of Boys Town Singapore, one of Sitydoyong's beneficiaries, at the Arena Singapore.

"There's so many things that I've done wrong in my life and I just want to fix it. I just want to be a much better person," recalled Sangalang. "That's the reason why I am so driven by this. I just want to be able to kind of give back."

There are only three episodes left as Sangalang, Millington, Chadsey, and Ramella complete the Final Four cast.
