The turnover ceremony was led by PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard J. Gordon and Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Inchul Kim at the PRC National Headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

“Kamsahamnida! We thank the Korean Embassy for its continuous humanitarian assistance and trust provided to PRC and we will make sure that those most in need are directly benefited,” Gordon said. “Kamsahamnida” is “Thank You” in Korean.

The food truck turned over by the Korean Embassy will be used by PRC in providing hot meals to the most vulnerable affected by disasters, emergencies, and other crises.

Equipped with a complete mini-kitchen set up, the food truck is capable of cooking, preparing and serving hot meals quickly and efficiently for at least 800 persons during an eight-hour operation.

This is deemed helpful particularly in various feeding program and disaster response operations of PRC.

Currently, PRC has 15 food trucks stationed in various locations such as Metro Manila, Nueva Ecija, Iloilo, Davao City, and Bacolod.

PRC said that the Korean Embassy has been a “longtime partner” in providing humanitarian services to alleviate human suffering and uplift human dignity.

During the Marawi siege in 2017, Mayon Volcano Eruption in 2018, Typhoon Ompong (Mangkhut) in 2018, Mindanao Earthquakes in 2019, Taal Volcano Eruption in 2020, and Typhoon Rolly (Goni) in 2020, PRC said that the Korean Embassy has helped the humanitarian organization in its disaster response efforts.

Meanwhile, Ambassador Kim noted that “bayanihan” is also at the heart of Korea’s assistance for the Filipino people - particularly for those affected by natural disasters or those in predicament.

“Korea is glad to partner with the Red Cross in implementing its various humanitarian assistance efforts in the Philippines,” he added.

Gordon also welcomed the Korean Ambassador in his first official partnership engagement with the PRC.
