
More than 5,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections were confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday, May 26.
The DOH said that the country's caseload increased by 5,310 to 1,193,976.
“Six duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, four are recoveries,” the DOH said.
Of the total, 46,037 were active cases, wherein 92.5 percent were mild, 2.1 percent were asymptomatic, 1.7 percent were in critical condition, 2.2 percent were severe, and 1.55 percent were moderate.
The DOH also reported 150 new fatalities, including the 86 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries but were reclassified as deaths after final validation.This brought the death toll to 20,169.
Meanwhile, the recovery total also rose to 1,127,770 or 94.5 percent of the country's overall case tally after 7,408 more patients have beaten the disease.
