PH posts 3,972 additional COVID-19 cases, death toll exceeds 20,000

The Department of Health (DOH) announced 3,972 more COVID-19 cases nationwide, while the country’s overall death toll surpassed 20,000.
Based on Tuesday's case bulletin, the country's total confirmed number of cases jumped to 1,188,672. The DOH noted that 4.1 percent of the overall figure or 48,201 cases are still active.
“Six duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, three are recoveries,” the DOH said.
Of the currently ill patients, 92.7 percent have mild symptoms, 2.1 percent are asymptomatic, 1.6 are in critical state, 2.1 percent are severe, while 1.42 percent are in moderate condition.
The DOH also confirmed the death of 36 other patients. This brought the death count to 20,019. The country's case fatality rate is at 1.68 percent.
Meanwhile, 4,659 more patients have gotten better, raising the recovery tally to 1,120,452, which translates to 94.3 percent of the country's total number of cases.
