Geneva Cruz makes rare 'grand slam' in week 12 of 'Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3'

Geneva Cruz saved her best for last, winning week 12 of “Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3” with her impersonation of Liza Minnelli.

The Pop Royalty’s “Cabaret” performance, which aired on Sunday (May 23) on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, iWantTFC, and Kapamilya Online Live, drew a total of 39 points, the highest total score ever received this season.

Not only was Geneva the top choice of jurors Gary Valenciano, Sharon Cuneta, and Ogie Alcasid, she also got all the votes from her fellow celebrity performers. “Gen, grabe. We were blown away. The resemblance, the eyes, the movements. It was just sakto. That was perfect,” Ogie said after her number.

Gary also described her performance as “magnificent” while Sharon pointed out Geneva’s professionalism again, as she continued to compete in the program despite losing her mother mid-season. “Mama, para sa ‘yo nanalo na rin ako. She wanted me to win. I love you Mama, this is for you,” the singer said after receiving her trophy and P50,000 cash prize as weekly winner.

With Geneva’s win, all seven celebrity performers are entering the Grand Showdown as former weekly winners. Klarisse de Guzman won Weeks 3, 5, 9, and 11; CJ Navato won Week 4, Vivoree Esclito won Week 6, iDolls won Week 7, Lie Reposposa won Week 8, Christian Bables won Week 10, and Geneva won Week 12. Jhong Hilario, who left the show to ensure the safety of his newborn child and wife, was the winner of Week 1 and 2.

Host Luis Manzano announced that all seven celebrity performers will advance to the Grand Showdown that is happening LIVE this Saturday and Sunday (May 29 and 30) on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z. For their final performance, they will get to choose the icon they will impersonate.

Moreover, Luis said the show’s loyal viewers, called KaFamiliars, will play a big role in choosing the Grand Winner, who will win a house and lot and P1 million. Their votes will make up 50 percent of each contestants’ final score. The other 50 percent will be based on the total accumulated votes they received from the jurors from Weeks 1 to 12. Details on how the public can vote will be announced soon.

Find out this weekend on the Grand Showdown of “Your Face Sounds Familiar Season 3,” 8 pm on Saturday and 7:30 pm on Sunday on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, Kapamilya Online Live on Facebook and YouTube, and iWantTFC. The “KaFamiliar Online Live” show with Darren Espanto and AC Bonifacio will also continue on Kapamilya Online Live during commercial breaks.
