Dizon: Nayong Pilipino mega vaccination site will boost PH's inoculation program

The planned mega vaccination site at the reclaimed Nayong Pilipino grounds in Parañaque City will boost the national government's inoculation program, according to National Task Force (NTF) Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon.

Speaking to CNN Philippines late Monday, May 24, Dizon said the facility can vaccinate at least 10,000 individuals daily.

"It will contribute a lot in our efforts to ramp up vaccinations as we move into the end of the second quarter and into the third quarter of 2021," he added.

Dizon said the facility is expected to be completed "in a month or two."

"I think it's important to know that based on the successful experiences of other countries, mega vaccination sites that can generate many vaccinations per day are really the most efficient ways of ramping up vaccinations," the testing czar underscored.

"As we increase the steady arrival of vaccines, we are going to need sites such as the Nayong Pilipino mega vaccination site to really meet our target of vaccinating 50 million people before the end of 2021," Dizon said.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque earlier said the facility will only be composed of temporary makeshift tents. The site will offer drive-thru and walk-in services.

As of May 22, the Philippines has administered 4,097,425 doses of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines.

Of the number, 3,147,486 have received their first dose, while 949,939 Filipinos have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
