COVID vaccine's non-disclosure policy a non-issue among Cebuanos

CEBU CITY—The move not to disclose what COVID-19 vaccine brands are available in vaccination sites has not affected the city’s inoculation drive.

Dr. Jeffrey Ibones, Cebu City Health Officer said more people, including medical frontliners, senior citizens and individuals with comorbidities, continued to troop to vaccination centers even it was decided that the COVID-19 brand will only be revealed during the actual vaccination.

“We’re happy that there are still a lot of residents signing up and lining at our vaccination centers despite the nondisclosure. We’re hoping this will continue in the coming days,” said Ibones.

City Mayor Edgardo Labella has ordered city health officials to comply with the Department of Interior and Local Government’s order not to disclose the brands of available COVID-19 jabs.

The city has so far received three COVID019 brands - CoronaVac, AstraZeneca, and Pfizer-BioNTech.

“We still have around 3,000 doses left of Pfizer-BioNTech. There’s a big possibility that we’ll use all them up by May 26,” Ibones said.

The city is targeting to vaccinate 700,000 residents in its bid to achieve herd immunity.

At least around 130,000 residents have registered for vaccination.
