ONE Championship is working on its "biggest event in history" in celebration of the promotion's 10th anniversary.
This was disclosed by no less than ONE CEO and founder Chatri Sityodtong to the International Business Times in an article dated May 23, Sunday.
"You've read my mind. Yes, we plan to hold a special event later this year to celebrate our 10th year in the industry," said Sityodtong. "It's going to be massive."
These were the only details disclosed but it could be a hint to ONE Championship's Instagram post, wherein Sityodtong welcomed the possibility of a mega-event crossover between ONE and UFC.
The warriors from ONE Championship seemed to like the idea as well, flooding the comment section with their desire to participate should the event push through.
ONE Championship, which was founded on July 14, 2011, successfully launched its American television debut called "ONE on TNT," a four-part series that featured multiple mega-bouts in April.
The promotion is not only known for its mixed martial arts fights but also with its ONE Super Series -- which highlights warriors from different disciplines such as muay thai and kickboxing.
"As we all know, ONE Championship is on a mission to celebrate the true beauty of martial arts. So expect the biggest names from mixed martial arts, Muay Thai, kickboxing, submission grappling and more to be part of the card to commemorate this milestone," added the ONE Championship honcho.
"I can assure you that it will be one of the biggest events, if not the biggest event in martial arts history," said Sityodtong, who now has an estimated net worth of $350 million.
Meanwhile, the all-female card event ONE: Empower, which was supposed to stage the quarterfinal matchups in the inaugural women's world atomweight grand prix, was postponed due to COVID-19-related concerns.
Replacing the event on May 28 is ONE: Full Blast, a tape-delayed event headlined by a ONE Super Series muay thai bout between Saemapetch Fairtex and Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai.
