Sweet surprise: Coast Guard man on deployment returns home to surprise wife on her birthday

No matter how far and whatever the threat is, love will always find a way.

This was proven by a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) senior enlisted personnel who threw a heartwarming surprise for his wife in time for her birthday celebration.

PCG Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Ariel Bacho has shared that he rarely returns home in their hometown to focus on his duty in Manila and as safety precautions to prevent spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Madalang makauwi sa Imus, Cavite para matutukan ang sinumpaang tungkulin sa bayan. Ginagawa rin ito para maingatan ang pamilya laban sa banta ng COVID-19 (I rarely return home to Imus, Cavite to focus on my sworn duty to the country. I also do this to protect my family against the threat of COVID-19),” Bacho shared.

However, he made sure that he will be able to return home to his family to celebrate the birthday of his wife Eddily Bacho on Friday, May 21.

“Kaya naman para maipadama ang pagmamahal sa butihing asawa na nakatutok sa pag-aalaga sa dalawang anak, naisip na maghanda ng simpleng sopresa, gamit ang maikling oras sa day off (In order to express my gratitude to her as she focused on taking care of our two children, I thought of preparing a simple surprise, using the short time of my day off),” Bacho said.

As soon as he was permitted to return home, Bacho has decorated his car with colorful flowers and balloons to surprise his wife in time for her 42nd birthday celebration.

In addition to serve the fellow countrymen, PCG Commandant Admiral George Ursabia Jr. reminded PCG personnel “to value their family.”

“Pinapaalalahanan ang lahat, lalo na ang mga pamilyadong PCG personnel, na ituon ang atensyon sa pagseserbisyo sa bayan at pagbibigay ng magandang buhay sa kanilang asawa at mga anak. (Everyone, especially PCG personnel who have families, is reminded to focus on serving the town and providing a good life to their spouses and children,” Ursabia said in a statement on Monday, May 24.
