A police sergeant in Agusan del Norte landed in jail after he was accused of extorting money from a mini-truck owner in exchange for the release of the vehicle which was impounded a few days ago.
Brig. Gen, Thomas Frias, director of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), said Police Staff Sgt. Ronelo Tering-tering demanded P10,000 from the vehicle owner to release the mini-dum truck which was impounded after the driver failed to show an Official Receipt-Car Registration when it was flagged down for traffic violation.

The vehicle owner sought assistance from the IMEG which resulted in the arrest of the policeman during the entrapment on Monday in Cabadbaran City.
The policeman is now under the custody of the Mindanao Field Unit of IMEG and is facing both administrative and criminal cases.
