Hailstorm hits Indang, Cavite

INDANG, Cavite - Residents were surprised by ice pellets that accompanied downpour and strong winds past 1:00 p.m. on Monday (May 24).

Barangay Alulod resident Jay-R Rubiato told Manila Bulletin that the hailstorm lasted for about five minutes.

"Medyo nangamba din po kasi may kasamang malakas na hangin at ulan, akala namin may kasunod pang mas malalaking hail (We were also worried because it came with strong winds and rain, we thought there might be bigger hail ahead)," Rubiato said.

Small balls of ice also fell in Barangay Mataas na Lupa.

"Sobrang lakas po ng ulan, biglang buhos po, then maya-maya po nagla-lagitikan po sa bubong... meron pong yelo kasama ng ulan (The rain was heavy and sudden, then a few minutes later, we heard ticking sounds on the roof... there was ice in the rain)," Mataas na Lupa resident Laine Bandoja told Manila Bulletin.

The ice pellets were small enough that some residents were able to bathe in the rain without getting hurt.
