38 arrested for illegal gambling in southern part of Metro Manila

A total of 38 individuals were arrested in four cities in the southern part of Metro Manila during the conduct of an intensified campaign against illegal gambling.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg said members of the Muntinlupa City police arrested five persons for playing cara y cruz along Purok 3, PNR Site, Barangay Bayanan on Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Amorado Alongga, Domingo Oribiafa, Joselito Jose, Michael Flores, and Mark Anthony Romero.

Macaraeg said members of the Putatan Sub-station were conducting Oplan Galugad when they spotted the five suspects playing cara y cruz.

Confiscated from the suspects were bet money amounting to P1,040 and three 25 centavo coins.

Macaraeg said five more individuals were arrested on the same day by members of the Intelligence Section conducting illegal cockfighting (tupada) along 4-36 B Ilaya St., Barangay Alabang.

He said the suspects, upon seeing the police, scampered into different directions. Five of them were arrested. They were identified as Matias Opiano, Elias Tolledo, Martin Opiano, Aldrin Deloso, and Mario Macabutas.

Recovered from them were two fighting cock with gaffs and bet money of P1,050.

In Las Pinas City, Macaraeg said nine persons were arrested for playing cara y cruz and tongits (card game) by members of the Zapote Sub-Station.

Arrested for playing cara y cruz were Herold Pacho, Andeng Organa, and Noel Gomes while those arrested for playing tongits were Regalado Brigino, Michael Lanzangan, Mario Rigasa, Marvin Nacpil, Wendel Gallardo, and Allan Aruta. They were arrested at Saint Anne St., Fatima Subdivision, Barangay Zapote Las Pinas City.

In Pasay City, 12 persons were arrested for illegal cockfighting beside the river bank at Barangay 168, Malibay Pasay City. They were identified as Joey Duran, Rolando Llobet, Edwin Africano, Ronello Navaro, Ryan Carlo Balena, Michael Porteza, Hilmer Rin, Ruello Erento, Francis Tablate, Sammy Balagtas, Jerome Caspe, and Felix Acol.

In Makati City, seven persons were arrested for playing “pusoy” (card game) and yielded 3 grams of shabu amounting to P20,400.

The suspects were identified as Marvin John Rodriguez, Rudy Amigable, Sergio Pabrigas, Kathleen Pascua, Janet Bellen, James Matienzo, and Ronald Santos.
