23,000 San Juaneños vaccinated against COVID-19 -- Mayor Zamora

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said on Sunday that the city has already vaccinated 23,000 residents against COVID-19.

"Meron na ho tayong 23,000 na San JuaneÃ±ong nabakunahan (There are now 23,000 San JuaneÃ±os vaccinated) and this is close to 27 percent of our target population to be vaccinated." Zamora said in an interview with Net 25.

Zamora added that the city has already exhausted its supply of Pfizer vaccines last week amid the large number of people who want to be vaccinated with the brand.

"Nung nakaraang linggo eh naubos na ho ang aming Pfizer vaccines at ang natitira ho ngayon samin ay AstraZeneca at Sinovac (Last week, we have already exhausted our Pfizer vaccines and only AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines are left)." Zamora said.

He added that San Juan still has 10,000 AstraZeneca and 10,000 Sinovac doses of vaccines which are good for around two weeks.

The mayor assured his constituents that the city still has enough vaccines to inoculate those who have registered for San Juan's vaccination drive and said that all vaccines being given by the local government are free.

There were some reports that there's an alleged vaccine for a fee scheme in San Juan and Mandaluyong City wherein residents are being offered vaccination slots in exchange for money.

Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said that according to initial reports, vaccination slots are being offered in various areas for P10,000 to P15,000, depending on the COVID-19 vaccine brand.
