The Department of Health-National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) has urged the public to report persons selling coronavirus vaccine slots.

DOH-NCR Director Dr. Gloria Balboa in an interview with TeleRadyo on Sunday, May 23, reiterated that the vaccines against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) being used in vaccination sites across the country are not for sale.
“Paalala sa ating mga kababayan ay huwag po ninyong patulan yung mga ganyan na nagbebenta ng slots kasi hindi iyan binebenta talaga (A reminder to the public, do not entertain those selling vaccine slots because these are really not for sale), it’s for free.
“Kung meron silang nabalitaan at nag offer sa kanila ay i-report nila para mapatawan ng karampatang sanction ang mga nananamantala (If they have heard anything and if they were offered, they should report it so that appropriate sanctions will be imposed against those who exploited the situation),” she added.
Reports of alleged online selling of vaccine slots in some cities in Metro Manila have surfaced last week, with each slot reportedly sold between P12,000 to P15,000.
The DOH official said they have already coordinated with the concerned local government units, adding that an investigation will be conducted to determine the culprits behind the scheme.
“They are validating kasi hindi naman dapat talaga dahil libre po ‘yan (because it really shouldn’t be because it’s free),” she said.
“Libre itong bakuna na binibigay natin dahil galing sa gobyerno so hindi dapat na binibinta (This vaccine that we provide is free because it comes from the government so it should not be sold),” she added.
Balboa stressed that the vaccines that have been deployed in different vaccination centers across the country are safe and effective as these were evaluated the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) before it was approved for use.
“Lahat ng apat na vaccines na nakarating na dito sa atin ay safe and effective (All four vaccines that have reached us are safe and effective),” she said.
“Kahit alin diyan sa mga iyan ay pupwede kasi hindi naman natin ipapamigay kung hindi (Any of those are fine because we will not distribute them if they are unsafe),” she added.
Likewise, the health official encouraged the public to accept what vaccines are currently available so they would receive the protection that the vaccine can provide.
“Sana kung ano yung available na nandyan ay tanggapin na nila kasi lahat ng apat na vaccines na nakapasok dito sa ating bansa ay napag-aralan at pumasa sa FDA so ‘yun ay safe and effective (I hope they will accept what is available there because all four vaccines that are now in our country have been studied and passed the FDA so it is safe and effective),” Balboa said.
“Whatever is the available vaccine, ‘yun ang pinaka best na para sa inyo (that is the best for you),” she added.
