Pacquiao lauds Biden's signing of landmark 'Anti-Hate Crimes' Law

Senator Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao has lauded United States President Joseph Biden for signing the Anti-Hate Crimes Act which seeks to counter the increasing incidence of hate crimes and violence against Asian-Americans in the US.

Pacquiao is one of the many personalities who condemned the recent attacks against members of the Asian community in the US and said that the law is an “answered prayer” for millions of Asian-Americans—many of them Filipino-Americans—who continue to live in fear due to hate crimes.

“We are really grateful to US Congress and President Biden for the expeditious enactment of this landmark legislation,” Pacquiao said in a statement.

“We have been praying very hard that the US government would really step in, to end this senseless attacks against our hapless Asian-American brothers and sisters. This is an answered prayer for all Asian-Americans including my fellow Filipinos,” he stressed.

“This is one big step toward a more united America. I pray that division, hate and discrimination against all people and all races will end today. In these trying times, we must be united in love and peace,” he added.

A world renowned boxing icon, Pacquiao joined the #StopAsianHate campaign together with other international personalities, including action superstar Jackie Chan.
