The quake, initially measured at 5.2-magnitude, was located at a depth of 19 kilometers.
It was felt as a "slight shaking" at Intensity II in San Antonio, San Narciso, and San Felipe, Zambales, and "scarcely perceptible" earthquake at Intensity I in Quezon City.
Phivolcs' instruments also recorded the quake at Intensity I in Marikina City and Olongapo City.
The quake was tectonic in origin, which means the tremor was caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
