Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced on Saturday that he received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

(Earlier this afternoon, I am the 57,858th Pasigueño vaccinated)." Sotto said in his Facebook post.
Sotto said that the city's vaccination team continuously urged him to be vaccinated for weeks since the mayors have been included in the A1 category of the Inter Agency Task Force's (IATF) priority list in the country's vaccination drive.
I really wanted to be inoculated, but I always thought that there are others who must be vaccinated first because they are high risk individuals such as senior citizens. But I realized that being vaccinated is not just for myself but also for the people that I come in contact with. Even if I take the necessary precautions, I still can't avoid exposing myself to others especially when I'm on the ground to work)," he added.
The mayor said that he was inoculated with the AstraZeneca vaccine and urged his constituents to be vaccinated regardless of the brand.
Sotto assured his constituents that the city will receive more vaccines and urged them to listen to health experts and not just from forwarded messages in Viber.
