Marrok Force camp 'perfect fit' for Denice Zamboanga

Filipina fighter Denice Zamboanga described the Marrok Force family as a "perfect fit" for her young career in mixed martial arts.

A former member of Fairtex, Zamboanga moved to Bangkok-based stable Marrok Force along with her brother Drex, who also competes in ONE Championship.

"Sakin sobrang laking factor. Dito mas focus ako, mas nalabas ko 'yung 100 percent sa training. Talagang solid 'yung mga teammates na tumutulong sa akin para sa mga laban (It's a huge factor for me. I'm more focused and I can unleash a hundred percent of my effort in training. My teammates are solid and helpful when I have a fight)," said the undefeated Filipina, who holds an 8-0 record, in an interview with the Manila Bulletin.

"Sobrang laking difference noong na-move ako rito sa Marrok Force kasi dito talagang 'yung mga teammates ko perfect fit para sa akin (There's a huge difference when I moved to Marrok Force and I can say that they are a perfect fit for me)."

Zamboanga cited the convenience of having versatile training partners who also have the same weight classes.

William Aranguiz, Marrok Force's director for MMA, is one of the coaches supervising the 24-year-old Zamboanga.

The unbeaten Filipina was supposed to take on South Korean veteran Seo Hee Ham, who holds a 23-8 slate, in the inaugural women's atomweight world grand prix in ONE: Empower but was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.

Zamboanga became the top ranked fighter in the division after beating the likes of Watsapinya Kaewkhong of Thailand, Mei Yamaguchi of Japan, and Jihin Radzuan of Malaysia.

The 34-year-old Seo, for her part, was a former atomweight champion in the Rizin Fighting Federation.
