Mandaluyong is already investigating claims on social media that there are individuals selling vaccination slots in the city, Mayor Carmelita “Menchie” Abalos said Saturday.

“The moment na nalaman ko ‘yan talagang pina-imbestigahan ko yan (The moment I learned about it, I asked for its investigation),” Abalos told DZRH News in an interview.
Abalos said authorities still don’t have a lead or suspect for the vaccination slot scheme but is currently in contact with a certain “Norman," who reportedly received a vaccination slot offer from a friend.
“Kapag nahuli namin ’yan talagang...kung kailngan i-demanda sila, para matigil ‘yung kanilang pang s-scam (Once we catch these individuals, we will file a case against them to stop their scam),” the mayor said.
The mayor meanwhile said it’s impossible for individuals who bought vaccine slots to get through vaccination without getting caught.
Abalos said the city has a strict process in vaccination, and that everyone must go through registration first.
The mayor said the city has a list of individuals who will be vaccinated on a specific date and place. Individuals under the A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities) priority groups are also fetched by their barangay captains, according to the mayor.
When asked if they are looking into the possibility that there might be someone working for the city hall in the alleged scheme, Abalos refused to comment as the investigation is still ongoing.
The mayor however assured that if there really is an insider involved in the scheme, the person will be sacked from his or her position and will face charges as well.
San Juan City LGU has also launched an investigation on the alleged scheme.
