Mak Tumang on controversial headpiece for Rabiya Mateo's national costume: 'Let's not spread fake news'
Fashion designer Mak Tumang, who was behind Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray's viral gowns, recently defended his co-artist Manny Halasan, creator of the headpiece for Rabiya Mateo's national costume that wasn't used.
Rabiya Mateo's stylist Rain Dagala said in previous reports that they did not use the headpiece because of it was "heavy' at "15 kilos."

Tumang belied the statement.
"Fact: Around 3 kilos lamang po ang HEADPIECE at hindi 15 kilos! Sana po yung totoo lamang na impormasyon ang ilalabas naten, let’s not spread fake news. More so, let’s not sow hate, negativity, and divisiveness. Masyado ng magulo ang mundo," he wrote on Facebook.

Dagala, who was tagged in the said post, quickly reacted.
The stylist pointed out he didn't intend to spread fake news.
"I was told that it is that heavy... that is the number that was stuck in my mind. Maybe nagpapanic na din kami," he explained. "If I was wrong, I am taking responsibility for this statement."
Dagala reiterated that it was not in his intention to "discredit" Halasan.
"I guess the point is mabigat siya... the number may be wrong but the fact of the matter is that it was heavy and we went for comfort. That is not in any way meant to take the work Manny has done for the headpiece. (heart emoji)," he said. "I hope this clarifies everything. Tapos na ang pageant. Many lessons learned. Thank you and see you soon!"
