Gina Pareño finds new fans via TikTok

The awarded actress keeps busy amid the ongoing pandemic.

How? TikTok, of course.

She has been at it for two years now.

According to the sprightly 71-year-old, her journey on the platform was spurred by boredom.

Apparently, being ensconced at home without work made her feel antsy.

“Nalulungkot ako, e, di dinadaos ko yung pag-arte ko ng ganu’n. Nasisiyahan ako kasi nakakaarte ako at saka gusto ko yung sine-share ko yung nalalaan ko," she shared in a recent guest appearance on "Eat Bulaga."

Who would've thought that something she decided to delve into rather desultorily could be ultimately rewarding.

Gina, who is known to her social media followers simply as "Lola Gets," now has over 1 million TikTok followers.

She is humble about it.

Asked how much she is earning through the platform at this point, she simply smiled and said, "Nakakaraos ako."

The acting veteran has since made it a must to upload something new for her online fans, daily.

“Araw-araw kami nagpo-post. Kaya ang aking kwarto, ang aking mga damit nakalabas lahat para dukot na lang kami nang dukot, wala nang ligpitan,” she related.

It is hard work but she's happy.

"Masay ako sa mga followers ko na sinusundan nila ako, maligayang-maligaya ako at hindi pa nila ako nakakalimutan. Kaya ganado ako kasi minamahal nila ako,” Gina said.

She would go on to encourage them to keep sending her their requests and messages, promising, “Sasagutin ko po lahat-lahat ng comments ninyo. Ganun ko po susuklian ang pagtitiyaga ninyo sa lola ninyo. At ako 'yun ha? Ako mag-isa. Ako ang sumasagot sa inyo..."
