DOT's travel circuit to revive tourism in Southern Luzon
An inter-regional tourism circuit, which is aimed at reviving the local tourism industry amid the pandemic, is underway in MIMAROPA (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon and Palwan), Quezon, Laguna and some parts of the Bicol region.

Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat bared this during her two-day visit in Marinduque as the local government and tourism stakeholders prepare for the province's safe reopening for leisure travel.
According to Puyat, the regional tourism office is currently crafting an inter-regional tourism circuit called "Center for F.U.N Tourism Circuit" that will focus on "Farm, Food, and Faith" tourism products.
"As the results of our most recent travel survey have confirmed, the needs and expectations of tourists have evolved because of the pandemic. To address this, the DOT has been redeveloping tourism products and seeking out new experiences for travelers to enjoy in the new normal," the tourism chief said.
In the initial discussions among DOT regional offices, the provinces that will be featured in the circuit are Marinduque, Quezon, Laguna, and Albay.
According to Puyat, the MIMAROPA Farm Tourism Association is now in the pipeline for SEC registration--the first in the Philipines--that will strengthen the farm tourism network in the region, and address concerns of stakeholders in food security and farm tourism development.
The DOT is also currently developing an intra-regional tourism circuit for diving and marine sports tourism.
In October last year, an exploratory dive assessment was conducted in Marinduque's Tres Reyes Island, a popular dive spot where the wreckage of sunken Chinese merchant vessels can be found.
This initiative was also part of the efforts to pursue dive tourism as one of its priority products identified in the Regional Tourism Development Plan.
