The number of overseas Filipinos who have contracted coronavirus disease (COVID-19) rose to 18,659 as a single new case was only recorded, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday, May 22.

The DFA also reported no new recovery and zero fatality on the same day. The number of recoveries and those who died from COVID-19 still stand at 11,400 and 1,168, respectively.
The latest tally of new cases among Filipinos abroad was the second lowest this month when the DFA reported no new cases
According to the DFA, 6,091 of the 18,659 overseas Filipinos who have been infected wtih COVID-19 are currently undergoing treatment.
There are 94 countries around the world who have COVID-positive Filipinos, it added.
Among them are Middle East and Africa with 10,473 coronavirus cases; Asia Pacific, 3,799; Europe, 3403; and America with 984 COVID-19 cases.
In the Philippines, 1,178,217 have been infected, with 6,831 new cases and 183 deaths reported on Saturday.
