Angara says Duterte-Robredo infomercial a good move vs. vaccine fear
Senator Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara said that President Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo teaming up for a public service announcement would be a good way to convince Filipinos to get vaccinated against the COVID-19.

Angara thought that Senator Joel Villanueva's suggestion for Duterte and Robredo to be featured in a single advertisement to address vaccine hesitancy was a "good" idea.
"Makakatulong 'yan dahil may kanya kanyang supporter sina Presidente and Vice President (It wil help since the President and Vice President have their respective supporters)," Angara said in an interview over radio DWIZ Saturday, May 22.
"Pero huwag sila mag-away sa infomercial, ha (But they shouldn't fight in the informercial)," he jested.
Angara admitted that he doubts that Duterte and Robredo will band together in an ad, recalling their previous disageements in the Cabinet.
"'Di nagkasundo sa gabinete eh, ilang beses na binigyan ng posisyon pero 'di talaga magkasundo (They didn't get along well in the Cabinet, Robredo was given various positions but they really had differences)," he said.
"Sana nga magkatuluyan at makakatulong talaga 'yan sa vaccination effort sa ating bansa (I really hope that this will push through, because that wil really help in the vaccination effort in the country)," Angara said.
Still, the senator remained optimistic that the Philippines will be able to achieve herd immunity against the COVID-19 this year, as officials had planned.
"Siguro (Maybe) greater coordination with the private sector, marami namang gusto magvolenteer, sa LGUs (since many are volunteering to help, as well as local government units)," he appealed.
Concerned agencies, he said, must come up with ways to expedite the vaccine rollout.
The government should also launch a "massive" information campaign to educate public about the coronavirus vaccines, Angara said.
