5.2-magnitude quake hits Davao province


The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 5.2 earthquake in Davao Occidental on Saturday morning, May 22.

Phivolcs said the quake occurred around 7:56 a.m. and traced its epicenter at 67 kilometers east of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental.

The quake was located at a depth of 47 kilometers.

Phivolcs, however, did not report any earthquake intensity.

The quake was tectonic in origin, which means the tremor was caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.

Phivolcs does not expect damage to property due to this earthquake but aftershocks are likely to occur.
