All hail the new Queen!

Andrea Meza of Mexico was crowned Miss Universe 2020 during the 69th Miss Universe Competition held at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA last May 16.


Here are 10 things that you may not know about Andrea Meza, in a report by Dane Maverick G. Padel and Merciely A. Salvador City of Malabon University.

Third Miss Universe from Mexico

Mexico took home its first Miss Universe crown in 1991 which was won by Lupita Jones. In 2010, Ximena Navarrette grabbed the second title for the country. Eleven years later, Andrea won the same crown.

Miss World 2017 1st runner-up

Andrea nearly conquered the world after she won first-runner up at the 67th edition of Miss World beauty pageat in Sanya, China.

Truly tech-savvy


Andrea is a degree holder who took up software engineering at Autonomous University of Chihuahua. She is "proud to be a woman who graduated in a male-dominated field of study."

An artist


Andrea is a make-up artist and a model. She is also the ambassador for tourism in Chihuahua where she promotes the best touristic attractions and rich culture of her hometown.

Physically-active


Andrea practices a high-intensity fitness program or CrossFit. She also loves extreme sports such as rappelling and sandboarding. She can also do a three-minute plank.

She loves to sing!


Andrea is fond of singing because it's a great way to express her feelings.

An activist


Andrea is an advocate of women’s rights. Based on Miss Universe bio, she is focused on women’s rights and inclusion and currently works closely with the Municipal Institute for Women, which aims to end gender violence.

A vegan at heart

With the love of animals and well-being of the world, Andrea chose to become a vegan.

Big, beautiful family

With a total of 40 cousins, Andrea has a beautiful and big family.

A successful businesswoman


Aside from being a software engineer, model, and make-up artist, the Mexican beauty queen owns a clothing line called Andrea Meza Activewear.
