Tuffin, Saints prevail over Bulls in NBL

Ken Tuffin and the host Wellington Saints prevailed over fellow Fil-Kiwi Joseph Nunag and the Franklin Bulls, 111-82, in their New Zealand National Basketball League match held Thursday, May 20.

The Saints dominated the match in front of their home fans at the TSB Bank Arena to stay unbeaten after five matches of their NBL campaign.

Tuffin and Nunag were hardly a factor, production-wise, in the first meeting of the two former Far Eastern University who are now plying their trade down under.

Despite being placed in the starting lineup, Tuffin played 15 minutes and finished with three points, one rebound and one assist for Wellington.

Nunag scored a season-low five points on 1-of-3 shooting for Franklin after entering the contest with averages of 14.8 points with a 53-percent clip.

The Bulls dropped to a tie with the Southland Sharks at an even 3-3 slate.

Former La Salle foreign student athlete Taane Samuel had 22 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals for Wellington.
