The Philippines reported 6,258 additional coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Friday, May 21.

The Department of Health (DOH) said there were 55,531 people nationwide who were still being treated for the viral disease.
Active cases account for 4.7 percent of the country's overall tally of 1,171, 403 infections.
Of the active cases, 93.5 percent were mild, two percent were asymptomatic, 1.8 percent were severe, 1.4 percent were in critical condition, and 1.22 percent have moderate symptoms.
The DOH also listed 141 new deaths, raising the death count to 19,763 or 1.69 percent of total cases.
Meanwhile, 2,586 more patients have recovered. This brought the recovery tally to 1,096,109.
Currently, 58 percent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds dedicated for COVID-19 patients nationwide were occupied, while 45 percent of isolation beds have been utilized, the DOH said.
The DOH also encouraged eligible individuals to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Meanwhile, those experiencing symptoms of the disease should immediately isolate themselves and coordinate with their respective Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.
