The Department of Health (DOH) said it has spent almost P400 million as it hired over 3,000 additional vaccinators to boost the country's COVID-19 vaccination program.

“Nakapaghire na po tayo ng additional vaccinators and dito, gumastos tayo ng about almost P400 million to hire more than 3,000 vaccinators and their contracts end in June (We have already hired additional vaccinators and we have spent about P400 million for the more than 3,000 vaccinators and their contracts will end in June)," said DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vegeire on Friday, May 21.
Vergeire said that they have already secured funds to re-hire the vaccinators. “Meron na rin po tayong nakalaan na pondo para marehire natin sila lahat (We have already allocated funds so that we can re-hire them),” she said.
The DOH spokesperson said that they also sought assistance from their private institution partners.
“Tutulong po sila to scale up and to speed up our vaccinations (They will help to scale up and to speed up our vaccinations),” she said.
“So, dito natin masasabi na sapat naman pati ang ating sites at healthcare workers na magbabakuna sa ating mga kababayan (So, here we can say that we have sufficient number of sites and healthcare workers who will administer vaccines to our countrymen),” she assured.
The National Task Force against COVID-19 said more than 3.2 million doses of vaccines have already been administered to eligible individuals nationwide. This figure includes 2.5 million people who received their first dose, while 786,528 people have already been fully vaccinated.
