Cardinal Advincula installation as Manila Archbishop set on June 24
Cardinal Jose F. Advincula will formally be installed as Archbishop of Manila at the Manila Cathedral on June 24.

Archdiocese of Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo confirmed the date Friday, May 21.
"Yes. The official notice will come out on Sunday," he said in an interview.
On May 28, Advincula will also receive his red hat in a ceremony to be held at the Immaculate Conception Metropolitan Cathedral in Roxas City.
Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Charles Brown, who will lead the ceremony, will also bestow the cardinal’s ring upon the outgoing Capiz archbishop.
It was in October last year when Pope Francis announced the 13 new additions to the College of Cardinals.
But with the consistory on Nov. 28 occurring during the pandemic, Advincula and another cardinal from Asia didn’t make it to Rome because of travel restrictions.
He joined the celebration at the St. Peter’s Basilica online.
Advincula, 69, is the country’s ninth cardinal, following cardinals Orlando Quevedo, Luis Antonio Tagle, Gaudencio Rosales, Jose Sanchez, Ricardo Vidal, Jaime Sin, Julio Rosales and Rufino Santos.
On March 25, the Pope appointed him as Manila archbishop, succeeding Tagle, who now heads the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples.
Advincula is the 33rd archbishop of Manila.
