Average daily COVID cases in NCR down to 1,299 -- OCTA Research
The average new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases per day in the National Capital Region (NCR) was further down by 25 percent to 1,299 cases during the May 14-20 period, OCTA Research said in its report released on Friday, May 21.

The reproduction number, which provides the average number of secondary infections by each infected individual, was also down to 0.54 during the same period.
OCTA noted that nine local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila are now classified as "moderate risk" for COVID-19 transmissions.
Based on the Department of Health (DOH) guidelines, an LGU with an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of less than 10 per 100,000 is considered moderate risk, while an LGU with an ADAR greater than 10 is classified as high risk.
The LGUs that are under the moderate risk category include Navotas, Malabon, Caloocan, Manila, Pasay, Muntinlupa, Taguig, Valenzuela and Quezon City.
The health care utilization rate (HCUR) in the NCR was also considered safe at 48 percent.
Meanwhile, OCTA observed that Zamboanga City had the second highest number of new cases, "although its upward trend has slowed down."
Significant one-week growth rates were also observed in Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Iloilo City, and Cabuyao and San Pablo in Laguna.
These were also considered high-risk areas based on their ADAR.
OCTA expressed that the spikes in new cases occurring in some LGUs in Laguna are "slightly concerning."
Within the NCR Plus bubble, Antipolo in Rizal and Dasmariñas, Bacoor, and Imus in Cavite were among the LGUs classified as moderate risk.
HCUR remained high in Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro, Baguio City, Dasmariñas, Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, and San Pablo in Laguna, while HCUR was at critical level in General Trias, Cavite.
Moreover, OCTA said the positivity rate in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan remained "extremely high" at 87 percent over the past week.
