The TNT Tropang Giga quickly buckled down to work upon arriving in Laoag, Ilocos Norte Wednesday, May 19 for the start of their two-week training camp.
Coach Chot Reyes and the rest of the Tropang Giga went straight to the Laoag Centennial Arena following a nine-hour ride from Manila for the start of full practices in preparation for the 46th PBA season.
TNT is the second team in Laoag after the provincial government of Ilocos Norte led by governor Matthew Manotoc opened its doors for PBA teams to train.
Meralco began its 10-day camp last Sunday in the city which is currently under Modified General Community Quarantine.
Team manager Gabby Cui said the Tropang Ggas will stay in Laoag until May 31 before heading back to Manila where they hope that quarantine restrictions would be eased by that time.
Metro Manila and provinces inside the NCR Plus bubble, namely Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Bulacan, are currently under General Community Quarantine but with “heightened restrictions,” meaning that indoor training is still prohibited.
Normal GCQ guidelines allow for full practices after the PBA’s request was approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force.
NLEX is slated to begin practices in Clark, Pampanga while the nine other ballclubs in Batangas City as early as Thursday, May 20.
Both Pampanga and Batangas are currently under GCQ restrictions.
