San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora announced on Thursday that the city has completed its distribution of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) cash assistance from the national government to help those who were adversely affected by the ECQ and Modified ECQ (MECQ) in Metro Manila.

''The San Juan City local government has completed the distribution of P98,450,000 ECQ cash ayuda to all qualified San Juaneño beneficiaries in all our 21 barangay. We were at 99.43% last May 15 with .57% still unclaimed so we had to select new beneficiaries again to complete the disbursement." Zamora said in a statement.
The mayor added that the distribution of the cash assistance in San Juan was smooth and efficient due to the system that the local government implemented to ensure that proper safety protocols and minimum safety health standards will be observed.
"We came up with a very organized and systematic distribution procedure using serial numbers that only permitted 100 per hour per barangay which helped in maintaining health and safety protocols throughout." Zamora said.
The local government started its distribution of the cash assistance on April 8 by the staff of the City Treasury Department (CTD) and the City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWD).
“We opted to distribute the ECQ ayuda in cash instead of “in kind” to give our beneficiaries flexibility because there may be other essentials like maintenance medicines and vitamins that they may need to buy and we wanted it to be given immediately to those whose lives have been greatly affected by the ECQ for the last two weeks,” Zamora said during the first day of the distribution of the cash assistance.
