Mayor Emi supports call of President Duterte not to be choosy with vaccine brands

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano is supporting the call of President Duterte for the public not to be choosy with the vaccine brands for the country to achieve the herd immunity.

Rubiano said the Department of Health (DOH) recommended to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to direct all local government units (LGUs) not to announce the brand of vaccines they are going to use at their vaccination sites.

She said the public being choosy and waiting for the vaccines brand they want had been the cause of delay in the vaccination roll out of LGUs and warned that if this continues, it will be very hard for the country to achieve herd immunity.

The mayor urged city residents to have themselves inoculated with any vaccine brand since all of them are safe and have the approval of health experts.

“The best vaccine is the one that is available to you and if we are going to wait and be choosy with the vaccine brand, we are putting ourselves at risk of being infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) including our family," Rubiano said.

Rubiano added that the delay in the vaccine roll out also has a staggering effect on the economy.
