Marikina mayor says there should be 'transparency and disclosure' in COVID-19 vaccination

Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro said there should be “transparency and disclosure” in giving out COVID-19 vaccines.

“Binibigay natin ay yung tinatawag na informed consent...Bahagi kasi nito yung efficacy at safety ng bakuna na gagamitin kaya mahalaga na alam ng ating mamamayan kung ano ang uri ng bakuna na gagamtin sa kanila (Part of the informed consent that we give are the efficacy and safety of the vaccines that will be administered to them that’s why it’s important for our citizens to know what type of vaccine they will be getting),” Teodoro told ANC.
The City of Manila, for its part, said it will comply with the Department of Interior and Local Government's directive to “refrain from announcing the brand of vaccines to be used in a particular vaccination center.”
“The best vaccine is the one that is available; therefore in order to overcome brand preference, LGUs should not announce the brand of vaccine to be used in vaccination centers,” DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año said.
The Department of Health also encouraged local government units to not announce in advance what brand of vaccines will be rolled out in a particular site to prevent swarming in the facilities.
