Marikina City Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro said on Thursday that the city will open an additional vaccination facility to further boost Marikina's vaccination efforts.

“Magbubukas tayo ng isa pang vaccination center na kayang magbakuna ng mga 1,500 hanggang 2,000 indibidwal dito sa Sto. Nino Elementary School. Ito ay magbubukas marahil sa susunod na linggo (We will open another vaccination center that can inoculate 1,500 to 2,000 individuals here in Sto. Nino Elementary School. The new site will be opened probably next week),” Teodoro said during the city's vaccination rollout using Pfizer vaccines.
He said that the city is currently capable of vaccinating an average of 3,000 individuals daily and currently has two sites for its inoculation programs — the Marikina Mega Vaccination Facility at the Marikina Sports Complex and the Marikina Elementary School.
Teodoro added that with the expected opening of the new vaccination site, Marikina's number of vaccinated individuals per day would increase to around 4,500.
“Gusto natin itong gawin sapagkat ang target natin sa loob ng anim na buwan pagdating ng buwan ng Nobyembre ngayong taon ay makapag-establish na tayo ng herd o population immunity (We want to do this because we are targeting to achieve herd immunity within six months or by November of this year),” the mayor said.
